Holiday Double Four-patch
Tips & Hints
Terri picked the block this month. It's a festive block with red and green and a little blue and purple thrown in for interest. You can make it with any combination of holiday colors. You will NOT send any blocks in for December. This block is strictly optional. We had 22 swappers in 2004.
Cutting directions for one blocks is below:
Sew a blue square to a tan square. Press toward the blue square. Repeat. Sew a purple square to a tan square. Press toward the purple square. Repeat. Sew a blue unit to a purple unit, so that the tan squares are in opposite corners, as in the block graphic above. Press seam to one side or open. Repeat. You will have two small four-patch units.
Sew one of the previous units to the red square, matching the block graphic above. Press toward the red square. Sew the other four-patch unit to the green square, matching the block graphic above. Press toward the green square. Sew the two rows together, so that the green and red squares are in opposite corners as in the block graphic above. Press seam to one side or open.
As I mentioned before, the December block is just for fun. You do not have to make them or send them in. If you are late with any of your blocks, please get them finished before the end of December, so we can start 2005 with a clean slate.
