This is a photo of the January block back. The seams are pressed in opposite directions to create opposing seams. This helps the seams meet properly. Notice the tiny four-patch in the center of the block, created when the two of the seams are partially clipped. You may prefer to press these seams open.
I also like to press so the tip of triangles is easy to see. That way I can sew directly over the place where the two seams cross and my points come out sharp and not cut off or "floating".
