Here's the back of the block. Notice that the seam goes through the "x" formed when the half-square triangles are sewn together. This ensures that the points will be sharp and not cut off. The seams are pressed toward the center square. Where the rows are joined together, the seams are pressed in opposite directions to help the seams "nestle" together and line up accurately.
